ROSEMARY CRUZ MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is sponsored by the Oklahoma Federation of Teachers, Local #8034, as a means of assisting deserving and able graduating students from the Moore School District who want to continue schooling at the college, junior college, business school, or vocational level. It is given in memory of Ms. Rosemary Cruz for her many years of service to the students of Moore Public Schools and to the American Federation of Teachers.

METHOD OF SELECTING THE SCHOLARSHIP WINNER

 The recipient of the award will be selected by the Scholarship Committee according to the following criteria: 

                1.             Scholastic Record

                2.             Character and Personal Qualifications

                3.             Statement of Intent and Application

                4.             Financial Need

 STATEMENT OF INTENT

 The applicant will be required to submit on the application a statement of intent regarding the program of study, career goal, and ambitions, together with the name and location of the college, junior college, business school, or vocational school he or she plans to attend.

 SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT

 $500.00

 DEADLINE

 The deadline for scholarships is April 15, 2008.

 GENERAL INFORMATION

 1.             The Scholarship Committee will review all applications and the winner will be announced.  If the winner         does not make use of the award and attend college within one year, alternates will move up and be eligible for the award.

 2.             The Scholarship will be awarded to the recipient upon proof of enrollment.

 QUALIFICATIONS OF APPLICANT

 1.             Student must have one parent/guardian who has been a member in good standing of the AFT-Oklahoma or any other AFL-CIO affiliated union for one year or the parent/guardian must be a member of a new Local established within the current school year.

 2.             Student must be a high school senior.

 3.             Student must be attending a public school.

 4.             Student must give written permission allowing the committee the right to review student transcripts.
